Kiss My Face - Whenever Shampoo Review

I think I have a problem, I find shampoos that I love yet seem to want to try new ones all the time. I still use and love my JM Zinc & Sage, however, I like to give my hair a "squeaky clean" wash once or twice a week to pump up the volume in my flat locks. I woke up one morning, went to Healthy Planet to pick up a couple of things and was drawn to the Kiss My Face Shampoo range. Somehow I was compelled to buy the Whenever Shampoo. It's pretty fantastic!

Description: Whenever Shampoo gently and thoroughly cleanses your hair without stripping or drying and soothes your scalp with pure essential oils and natural and organic herbs. Especially great for the very sensitive shampooer, it's as effective as it is good for your hair, leaving your locks luminous. The unique, natural aromas will leave you exhilarated.

The Good:
  • smells like a refreshing lemon lime slushy, add vodka or rum and you got yourself a par-tay! Kidding, don't do that!
  • cleanses hair and scalp beautifully
  • lathers well
  • a little goes a long way
  • affordable
  • biodegradable, paraben free, phthalate free, SLS free, vegan, not tested on animals, & contains no artificial fragrances
The Bad:

  • can be drying to my scalp if used too often (I used it all the time when I first purchased it)

Verdict:  This shampoo is really wonderful and I think it'll be especially great for regular use in the warmer months. I like to do a scalp and hair treatment, once to twice a week, using coconut oil and find this removes the oil so well. It leaves my hair with plenty of volume, which I love because my hair is flat and straight. Since it does give that "squeaky clean" feel, I do need to use a conditioner afterwards. I LOVEEEE the uplifting citrus scent of this shampoo but for those that don't, the scent doesn't linger for long. If you're looking for a shampoo to moisturize your scalp and hair, this is not it. I definitely recommend trying this out if you want a deep clean or have normal to oily hair. I would definitely repurchase.

Retails for approx. $8 - $10 CAN for 325ml. Can be purchased at most health food stores.

Do you rotate shampoos or stick to one?

  1. Seriously, you're still my blogging soul-sister or something. I wanted to buy a big jumbo jug of this shampoo but I waited because I wanted to see if there was a review on it. Now, I'm deciding against it because I have a dry scalp and this shampoo might make it worse. Have you tried the Whenever Conditioner though? I wonder if the Conditioner would be more moisturizing than the Shampoo.

    1. I love how we're somehow always on the same page. Don't get it if it's going to be your regular shampoo because it totally will dry out your scalp. I haven't tried the conditioner yet, I currently have 3 that I'm working through, but may try it out when I finish all of them. If you get to it before me, let me know! I think they have a line for dry hair though, Mistreated? Check it out. Xo!

  2. Was googling about tamanu oil and found your blog. Love reading all your reviews since im a big fans of organic products :)

I've tried a few of organic shampoos and so far I like JM Zinc & Sage the best. Sadly it's quiet pricy, therefore im looking something cheaper to use so i wont use up the JM Zinc & Sage within a month or so. I think im gonna try this brand's shampoo and see :)

    1. Thank you! :)

You go through Zinc & Sage that quickly? I still have 1/3 of my bottle and I've had it for 3 or 4 months. This one is definitely not as hydrating as JM but it's wonderful nonetheless. Let me know which of their shampoos you end up trying! Have you tried Aubrey? I've been looking at their shampoos lately and definitely want to try one. xo

  4. Oh I do a lot of oil treatments in my hair and find that I need at least two washes with a shampoo that foams a lot (hello SLS), so I've been wanting to look for a natural alternative. Would you recommend this, or do you have any other recommendations?

    1. I've definitely recommend this. It worked the best (for me) for removing oil treatments. Worth a shot, right?
