Therapi Honey Skincare was founded by Tanya Hawkes, a bee keeper, who researched the benefits of honey and propolis. The line is based around "a love affair with bees", in case it wasn't obvious yet, and they even donate 5% of their profits to bee conservation projects. All of the ingredients are deliciously pure, made in house (without pre-made bases), and Soil Association Organic certified. You can read more about the brand by visiting their website.
Description: A lightly foaming gel wash. Nourishing honey and natural extracts of yucca gently cleanse the face and remove impurities. Leaves skin clean and refreshed without dryness. With rejuvenating rose otto and refining rose geranium essential oils. Retails for £25 for 100 ml.
This gel textured cleanser doesn't foam up or dry out the skin like a traditional gel cleanser does, at least in my experience. It smells of rose otto and rose geranium but isn't overwhelming at all, nor does it linger. The first time that I washed my face with this gel cleanser, my skin felt so soft. After that, it went downhill. I blamed it on the polar vortex weather and put it aside. Since my skin has been less sensitive and irritated lately, I decided to give it another go. It instantly irritated my skin and left it red. Weird right? Tried it a few more times and the same thing happened. I honestly have no idea why it irritates my skin so much and am so disappointed that it doesn't work as well for me as it does for Ana.
Description: An easily absorbed, perfectly textured skin nectar. Moisturising honey, soothing calendula and vitamin-rich sea buckthorn oil balance and hydrate normal skin to leave it smooth, soft and moisturised. With balancing botanical extracts of orange fruit and blossom. Retails for £30 for 50 ml.
This lush facial cream is absolutely beautiful and smells lovely. It's rich, yet absorbs into the skin easily without leaving the skin feeling greasy. I did find I needed a little extra moisture on certain parts of my face, otherwise my makeup grabbed on to the dry patches. Filled with ingredients that I love like calendula, apricot kernel oil, honey, and sea buckthorn, it was sure to be a winner..right? Wrong. In the beginning, it worked well but with continued use my skin got bad. Again, I blamed it on the polar vortex weather and hormones. Never had my skin been that bad for that long, two months to be exact. I had cystic acne along my cheeks, chin, and neck, and red bumps all on my forehead. Once I stopped using this cream, my skin slowly began clearing up and now my skin looks great! I finished up the jar on my hands and it worked fine there.
It's definitely disappointing that these products didn't work for me, however, with beautiful ingredients, luxurious packaging, and rave reviews, I still recommend giving them a try. Aside from wanting to share my honest experience, I wrote this review to show you that not all products work for everyone. The cleanser has since been passed on to my mom and once she gives me some feedback, I will update this post or mention her experience on an empties post.
Have you tried Therapi yet?
This is such a cute quote. On the other side of this paper is the entire range of Therapi products and what skin type each range is for. |

What a disappointment! I am so sad that Therapi didn't work out for you. But you're right, it really does show that everyone is different. For example, I tried the Indie Lee Blemish Lotion - everyone had such rave reviews on the product, but it didn't work out that well for me!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Nicole!
It happens. I'll have to head over and read your review on the Blemish Lotion, you're right, I have read nothing but great things about it. xo
DeleteWhat a shame it wasn't for you. It just shows you can't always predict how your skin will react to a product x
ReplyDeleteIt's all about trying, that's for sure xo
DeleteOoh that's too bad! :( Thanks for sharing, love your honest reviews! I still wanna try the brand :)) xx
ReplyDeleteThanks love. You'll likely love the brand, I'm the odd man out lol xo
DeleteI've been sitting on the fence about trying this brand and it comes down to the essential oils & "parfum" used in their products and my intolerances/sensitive skin. Whilst it is sad for you they didn't work, it's extremely interesting for me to have this prospective because everyone else had been so positive about the products :-)
ReplyDeleteI completely understand and see why you'd hold back from trying the brand. Minis woould probably be worth trying, one application and you'll likely know. xo
DeleteAw, that is a shame that they didn't work - but it's always helpful to hear about different experiences people have with products. Thank you for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely agree, thank you for reading and commenting! xo
DeleteLike others have said it is a shame that they didn't work for you, I have used all of mine up and I was thinking of buying some more. Sometimes it's really hard to work out why something doesn't work for you but it there are a few products that receive rave reviews that really don't work for me no matter how much I want them too, the most important thing is that your skin has cleared up because there is nothing worse than unhappy skin! :) Xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Ana. It's just the way things go, I guess. We've both been disappointed by hyped up products and that's okay because you don't know unless you try, right? Unhappy skin is awful and I'm so glad it's gotten better xo
DeleteI have the Lemon range & my skin reacted the same! Red, blotchy, itchy and irritated! I haven't figured out if it was the cleanser or moisturiser but I only used them twice. Going to use them separately to see when I pluck up some courage.. I LOVE the toner though, very refreshing.
ReplyDeleteOh no, we're such weirdos! haha kidding, I'm sorry you had a negative experience but, I'm glad neither of us is alone. Good luck plucking up the courage to give them another go. I wish I had tried the toner! Dang, next time. xo
DeleteI am wondering whether the Cocomidopryl betaine in the cleanser may be the issue, it does seem to cause reactions for some people, I can't see anything in the moisturiser that could be to blame but it's not impossible Xx
