Crawford Street Lemon Deodorant Cream Review

Since running out of my (failed) DIY deodorant, I decided to give this little guy another go since it's been sitting around since my April Seasons Box came in. It's been super hot here, like 40 degrees hot with nothing but humidity, what better time to test out the power of a deodorant? I'm the first to raise my hand, or maybe I shouldn't, in admittance to having pit odour. I don't sweat TOO much but I do stink, especially in warm temperatures. Did this keep me stink free? *enter suspense music*

Description: This citrus scented cream deodorant is completely natural and it works! It includes over ten essential oils that are deodorizing, antibacterial and antifungal. No aluminum, no parabens, no yellow shirt stains! Crawford Street Lemon Deodorant Cream is mentioned in Gill Deacon's book: "There's Lead In Your Lipstick"

I really wanted to love this Canadian made deodorant and really wanted it to work for me, but it just didn't. For starters, I don't enjoy the strong herbal lemon scent and find it smells weird when it mixes with my "natural scent". On a mildly hot day, it keeps me stink free for a couple of hours without needing to reapply. On a hot 30+ degree day, it keeps me stink free for all of a few minutes of being outside. I guess since it has moisturizing ingredients, it just gets really wet and sticky. When I combine this deo with Dr. Mist, it lasts most of the day. What a lovely surprise! I guess it does work, sorta, just not on it's own. The formula is really nice, it's creamy and applies beautifully on the skin. It didn't leave any white residue under my arms or on my clothing. Who wants deodorant marks on their clothes? Nobody! Or maybe you do, maybe you like that look and that's fine. No judgements here. All in all, this deodorant just isn't a winner for me. Since I've heard of others having good luck with it, I do recommend giving it a go if you are in the market for a new deodorant. Plus, we're our own worst critics and I'm super paranoid about BO.

Retails for approx. $12 CAN for 60ml. Can be purchased through Crawford Street or their other retailers.

  1. I just bought a new deodorant based with tons of essential oils that hasn't done much for me either, so sad. So hard to tell when it's this hot though! I feel like nothing will hold up to the heat. However I normally use Lush's Aromaco with their Coconut powder dusted on top of it but they've dicontinued the powder :( That combo worked really well except for a few white marks. My try make my own DIY stylie...who knows

  3. Chagrin Valley, although it is not a Canadian company and like you I prefer to support Canadian companies, makes a fantastic natural deodorant. There are a variety of scents and the one I like is their 'Summer Rain'. It definitely is a little harder to apply when the product is cold, but it works like a dream. I can even skip a day right now and it's +30 outside! My boyfriend likes the Woodland Breeze scent and only has to put it on in the morning as is good all day long! Thanks so much for you great review posts. I always like checking in to see what you have to say.

    1. really!? I might give Penny Lane a go (Canadian) before trying Chagrin Valley, but thank you so much for the recommendation. Aww, I appreciate the kind word. Loving your blog too! I will have to sit and read all of the reviews very soon xo

  4. Too bad this didn't work for you...I've heard good things in the past too. Also, I can totally relate to being paranoid about BO. Whenever I try a new deodorant, I want to smell myself every 10 minutes, lol :) The funny thing is, even when I think I stink, other people insist I don't, so I've pretty much decided I don't actually sweat or smell all that much. It still stresses me out sometimes though!

  5. Natural deodorants I'm learning are a lot of trial and mostly error. I find I cannot use ones that contain sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). Nothing like having your pits burn. In the winter months I can use almost any brand, but in the summer you can really tell once the temps go above 80°F/27°C in my case I tend to switch to Liquid Crystal deodorants (currently using Liquid Rock by Kiss My Face). At 104°F/40°C I don't know what would work even in the non-natural range.

    1. Crystal deodorants definitely work really well, especially in the summer, but there's controversy on the alum potassium. It's so true, nothing works when it gets that hot. Thanks for the comment xo

    1. Thank you for the follow and award :). My DIY just didn't keep me stink free, wasn't too harsh. There was a little bit of baking soda and clay. Xo

  7. I'm using an unscented Crystal Body Deodorant Roll-On. It works pretty well. I tried a lavender scented one thinking it would be even better, and it made me smell so bad!! :( I feel like I get bad BO in the summer so I'm really picky about what I'll use!!

    1. So you totally understand what I mean about scents making me smell even worse. I love crystal deodorants but apparently the alum potassium is bad for you because it's basically like aluminum. We can't win can we?

  8. Dr Mist is the only natural deodorant that keeps me stink free all day long, even in high humidity weather. I've tried so many deodorants. From DIY to soapwalla, etc. They either didn't work or I was allergic to it. :( Until I find something better, it's Dr. Mist for me.

    1. We're in the same boat with the trial and error of deos not working or irritating. Dr. Mist is my go-to as well. I got unscented and put a little peppermint EO in it, it's awesome.
